Your driver/guide will meet you at 7:30 am at the doors of your hotel or riad, and your first destination will be the UNESCO-listed Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. To get there, we’ll pass through the Tizi Ntichka pass and the high Atlas Mountains.
The views from your window will be like something out of a painting a stunning natural landscape. Don’t worry, we’ll make several stops along the way for you to take in the beauty, snap some photos, and stretch your legs.
At Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, we’ll explore this famous filming location used in numerous Hollywood productions. Continuing on, we’ll visit the Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate before breaking for lunch.
In the afternoon, we’ll drive to the oasis of Skoura, where you’ll have the chance to visit one of Morocco’s most well preserved kasbahs Kasbah Amridil. Here, you’ll learn about the local architecture, unique irrigation systems, customs, and more.
From there, we’ll continue on to Boumalne Dades, traveling through the Valley of the Roses. Upon arrival, we’ll get settled in our lodge, located right next to the stunning Dades Canyons, before enjoying dinner.
Begin your day with a drive to Tinghir along the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs”. Once in Tinghir, which was a French military station during colonial times, we’ll take a detour to another oasis. As you walk alongside the stream, allow nature’s beauty to refresh your soul. At the end of your stroll, another natural wonder awaits the stunning Todgha Gorges.
After enjoying lunch at a local cafe, we’ll proceed to Rissani. This town is considered one of the holiest places in Morocco, as it is the ancestral home of the ruling royal family. Rissani is also famous as the departure point for ancient caravan routes heading into the Sahara Desert and toward Timbuktu.
After learning about Rissani’s rich history, we’ll drive across rugged terrain to reach Merzouga. There, you’ll meet your camel caravan for an exciting ride over the Erg Chebbi dunes, watching the sky transform into brilliant shades of orange as the sun sets. Your final destination is a remote Sahara desert camp nestled amidst the dunes.
Once settled in, feel free to hike up one of the dunes to take in the magnificent views. Enjoy dinner under the stars, entertained by the music of local nomads.
After an early breakfast at your desert camp, get ready for a long drive to Fes, passing through the Ziz Valley and the town of Errachidia along the way.
We’ll continue on to Midelt, where we’ll stop for lunch before resuming our journey across the Middle Atlas Mountains. This region is known for its vast cedar forests, Barbary monkeys, and the Berber towns of Ifrane and Imouzzer, which are popular ski resorts for locals in the winter.
Late in the afternoon, we’ll arrive in Fes. For the evening, you’ll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at a riad located within the Fes Medina.
Today, you’ll visit the spiritual capital of Morocco and one of the oldest cities in the kingdom Fes. Often referred to as the “Athens of Africa”, Fes is renowned for its rich cultural and religious heritage, as well as its prestigious educational institutions.
Your guided tour of this ancient imperial city will begin at the broad esplanade of the Royal Palace, where you can admire the luxurious palace architecture. Next, you’ll continue on to the 16th century Borj Sud, taking in a dazzling panoramic view of the walled Fes Medina below.
From there, you’ll delve deeper into the UNESCO-listed Medina, wandering through its narrow streets, charming bazaars, ancient madrasas (Koranic schools), and hilltop shrines. Highlights will include the bustling Nejjarine Square and the Dar Batha Museum, where you can discover the finest examples of Moroccan art and craftsmanship.
You’ll begin the day by driving across the Saiss Plain to the archaeological site of Volubilis, one of Morocco’s richest and most significant UNESCO World Heritage sites. Covering an area of 42 hectares, Volubilis showcases the urban development and architectural legacy of the Roman Empire’s frontier regions.
The site has produced an abundance of impressive art and artifacts, including intricate mosaics, marble sculptures, and bronze works.
