Private 4 Days Errachidia to Marrakech Sahara Trip will allow you to explore the desert region. You will visit the nomads in their tents and enjoy the music and dance performances of the Gnaoua and Khamlia people. You will also have the opportunity to see an old eyeliner mine, as well as the Merzouga wildlife lake just a few kilometers from Merzouga.
The tour includes strolling through palm tree groves, camel riding, and experiencing the magical sunsets and sunrises over the sand dunes. You will also spend a night camping in the heart of the Sahara desert.
Furthermore, the itinerary includes visits to the Dades Valley, Todra Gorges, and the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. The tour will then cross the High Atlas mountains, including the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, before concluding in Marrakech.
We’ll pick you up from the airport. We will then drive south to the Merzouga Sahara desert. In the evening, you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in Merzouga.
On the second day, we dedicate the entire day to exploring the incredible Merzouga region. This area is home to an abundance of remarkable sites, from sand dunes and a wild lake, to ancient mines and fossil areas, as well as fabulous oases – making it an ideal destination for a wide range of outdoor activities.
We pay a visit to the nomads in their handmade woven tents, where we’ll learn about their way of life while enjoying a traditional Berber tea.
Next, we head to the Khamlia village, where you will be treated to Gnaoua music and dance performances by the local inhabitants, who hail from countries like Mali, Sudan, and Niger. After a free-time lunch in a restaurant, we take a stroll through a palm tree grove before driving a few kilometers to the wild Merzouga lake, also known as the Flamingos lake.
In the afternoon, you’ll switch to camels and cross the sandy desert, stopping at the top of a high dune to witness the magical sunset. Then, you’ll continue on to a luxury desert camp. Here, you can enjoy the rhythmic sounds of Berber drums and dance around the campfire under the vast, starry sky. Dinner and an overnight stay in the camp complete the day.
We’ll depart the desert and head to the town of Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Rissani remains an important trading center in the region, with a lively souk (market) that is especially bustling on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
Following a stroll through the Rissani souk, we continue on to Erfoud, where we will visit one of the workshops specializing in fossilized marble. From there, we drive through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad to reach the awe-inspiring Todra Gorges. The Todra River has carved a grand canyon through the mountains, creating towering red cliffs – an ideal destination for rock climbers. Feel free to wander through the gorges and admire the stunning landscape.
We’ll then break for a free-time lunch in a local restaurant before continuing on to the Dades Valley, passing through Boumalne Dades. Along the way, we’ll make inevitable stops at the “monkey fingers” rock formation and at a scenic overlook atop a mountain, offering breathtaking views of the Dades Valley. Finally, we’ll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel.
On the final day of your 4 days desert tour in Morocco, we continue our journey to Kalaa Magouna, where we will visit the renowned Rose Valley. Each May, the local community hosts an annual Rose Festival, showcasing their exquisite rose-based products, from perfumes and rose water to cosmetic items.
After exploring the Rose Valley, we drive through the palm groves of Skoura before reaching Ouarzazate, also known as the “Gateway to the Desert.” Here, we will visit the film studios where many famous movies have been shot.
Next, we depart for the renowned Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This iconic location has appeared in numerous films, including Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy, as well as in the television series Game of Thrones.
Continuing our journey, we drive through the stunning Tizi-N-Tichka Pass and the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, stopping for lunch and to capture photographs of the breathtaking scenery along the way. Finally, we reach Marrakesh, where we will drop you off at the airport or your accommodation, marking the end of your desert tour.
