In addition, this tour includes one of the best adventures – a camel trekking excursion over the Erg Chebbi dunes. You will also have the opportunity to spend a wonderful night in a desert camp nestled in the heart of the dunes, beneath the starry night sky.
Overall, this 7 Days from Agadir to Merzouga desert provides an unparalleled travel experience showcasing the remarkable natural beauty and cultural heritage of southern Morocco.
On the first day of the 7 days Agadir to Merzouga, upon your arrival at Agadir airport, a member of our team will be there to welcome you. They will then transfer you to your accommodation for the start of your journey.
After breakfast and some relaxation, we will depart for the city of Ouarzazate, often referred to as the “Hollywood of Africa” due to the famous films that have been shot at its renowned studios. On the way, we will pass through the Berber city of Taroudant.
Continuing our journey, we will reach the city of Taliouine, known as the “saffron valley”. From there, we will visit the small town of Taznakht, famous for its Berber carpet making, where you will have the opportunity to visit a local carpet workshop.
Afterward, we will stop at the Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, widely considered the most beautiful kasbah in Morocco and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Next, we will visit the Kasbah Taourirt in Ouarzazate.
We’ll withdraw towards the Draa Valley, where you can see one of the longest streams in Morocco.
Along the way, we’ll make several stops to take pictures and admire the spectacular kasbahs and Berber villages that dot the landscape, as well as the breathtaking beauty of the Draa Valley.
You’ll have a few free time for lunch in either Nkob or Alnif, and at that point, after around two hours of driving, we’ll reach the superb Sahara Forsake, the “Desert of Brilliant Sand Dunes”. Here, you will have the opportunity to ride camels into this magical world, through the stunning sandy dunes of Erg Chebbi, with a panoramic view of the unique Saharan sunset.
Finally, we’ll arrive at our desert camp, where you can settle in and relax. You will be served a delicious and authentic Berber (Amazigh) dinner in the heart of the desert. In the evening, we’ll gather around the campfire, enjoying Berber music under the endless starry sky.
Our wonderful desert excursion will begin by exploring the surrounding areas of the magnificent Erg Chebbi. We will venture off-road to visit the nomadic families living around the sand dunes, giving us a chance to see their unique lifestyle and how they survive in the dry Sahara Desert, including sharing a cup of traditional mint tea with them.
From there, we will head to the M’Fis mines, located on a high plateau that offers a wonderful panoramic view of Erg Chebbi and the desert landscape.
Afterward, we will visit the Khamlia village, also known as the Gnaoua village. The people of this small village have their origins in Black Africa and have long-standing ties to the Sahara, with their ancestors brought here via the caravans that arrived in southeastern Morocco from Central and West Africa. We will have the opportunity to learn more about them and enjoy their traditional Gnaoua music.
Following the Gnaoua music performance, we will indulge in a delicious Berber pizza lunch. Finally, we will drive back to your hotel or riad in Merzouga.
Today, after breakfast, we will go on a trip to the Dades Valley. Our first stop will be Rissani, where we will visit its traditional market, considered to be the largest in all of southern Morocco.
Next, we will stop in Erfoud, an ancient site known for its precious and unique fossils.
Continuing our journey, we will make our way to Touroug and then Tinjdad, where you will have time for lunch at one of the local restaurants.
Afterward, we will head to our next destination, the stunning Todra Gorges. Standing at 300 meters high, with the narrowest section measuring just 20 meters across, the Todra Gorges are recognized worldwide as one of the most spectacular canyons. We will take a short walk around the immense cliffs, marveling at the amazing landscapes.
Finally, we will drive to the Dades Valley, where you will enjoy an authentic Berber dinner at your riad or hotel for the night.
Today, we’ll depart the Dades Gorges and head towards Agadir. However, before reaching Agadir, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the best of the Dades Valley.
You’ll then travel along the renowned “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs,” a spectacular drive winding through stunning desert landscapes, villages, and palm groves, as it traverses the Dades Valley between the Atlas and Anti-Atlas mountain ranges. The route is lined with hundreds of impressive Kasbahs, offering an exhilarating driving experience with superb views. These proud monuments to Berber art are truly unique in the world.
We’ll make a stop to visit Kalaat M’Gouna, the “Valley of Roses,” where you’ll be able to purchase rose-based products. This area hosts an annual Rose Festival every May.
Continuing our journey, we’ll visit the Amridil Kasbah in Skoura, before driving through Taznakht, Ouarzazate, and Ait Benhaddou. Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the largest and most well-known of all Moroccan kasbahs, having appeared in numerous Hollywood blockbusters.
