This 5 Days desert Tour from Casablanca will take you to some of the country’s most amazing destinations, starting from Casablanca.
The tour begins with a visit to the city of Casablanca, followed by explorations of the Roman ruins of Volubilis and the imperial city of Meknes. You will then head to the cultural center of Fes.
Continuing southward, you will visit the Switzerland of Morocco, Ifrane, as well as the stunning cedar forests. The journey then takes you through Midelt, the Ziz Valley, the traditional Rissani market, and the fossil town of Erfoud.
The highlight of the tour will be the Sahara Desert of Merzouga, where you will have the opportunity to ride camels and spend a night in a luxury desert camp, witnessing the magical sunset and sunrise over the dunes.
Afterward, you will explore the Todra and Dades Gorges, as well as the renowned Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. The tour will then cross the High Atlas Mountains, traversing the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, before culminating in Marrakech.
We will pick you up from the airport, port, or your accommodation in Casablanca. As the economic center and largest city in Morocco, our first stop will be the Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque in the country, located on the city’s western coastline overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
After the mosque visit, you will have free time for lunch. We will then explore the city further, including a visit to the stunning Corniche of Casablanca.
We will depart Casablanca and head to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. This well-preserved site is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage location, featuring beautiful mosaics, pillars, and archways scattered throughout.
Following our exploration of the ruins, we will drive 30 km to the imperial city of Meknes, one of Morocco’s former capital cities. In Meknes, we will visit the impressive Bab El-Mansour gateway, the Sahrij Souani basin, the Royal Stables, the impressive granaries, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail.
From Meknes, we will then continue our journey to the cultural hub of Fes, where we will check into a traditional Riad for an overnight stay.
We will make our way through Imouzzer to the city of Ifrane, famous for its low temperatures, snowfall, and alpine-style architecture earning it the moniker “the Switzerland of Morocco”.
After exploring Ifrane, we will continue on to the nearby cedar forests, home to the Barbary macaque monkeys. Feel free to wander the forests and feed these fascinating primates.
Continuing our journey, we will reach the town of Midelt, where you will have free time for lunch. We will then drive through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and along the scenic Ziz Valley, stopping to take in the panoramic views.
In the afternoon, we will arrive at the Sahara Desert of Merzouga. Here, you will transfer to camels and cross the sandy expanse. We will make a stop atop a high dune to witness the spectacular sunset.
Finally, we will reach our camp, a blend of traditional Berber tents and modern luxury amenities. Spend the evening enjoying Berber drumming and dancing around the campfire under the vast starry sky, before sitting down to a delicious dinner and an overnight stay in the desert camp.
Waking up early in the morning is essential to witness the beautiful sunrise in the middle of the desert. After a free breakfast, you will return to Merzouga on camels, where your driver will be waiting. Then, we will leave the desert to visit the town of Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Rissani remains an important trading center in the region.
After exploring the Rissani marketplace, we will continue on to Erfoud, where we will visit one of the workshops specializing in fossilized marble. Driving through the Touroug and Tinjdad palm groves, we will then reach the Todra Gorges. The Todra river has carved a majestic red-walled canyon through the mountains, creating an ideal location for rock climbers. Feel free to wander the gorges and appreciate the stunning landscape. We will break for a free lunch at a local restaurant.
Continuing on, we will drive through Boumalne Dades to reach the Dades Valley. Along the way, we will make inevitable stops to admire the “monkey fingers” rock formation and take in the views of the Dades Valley. Finally, we will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel.
We continue our trip to Kalaa M’gouna, where we will visit the Rose Valley. An annual Rose Festival is held here every May, where the locals showcase and sell their rose-based products.
From there, we’ll drive through the palm groves of Skoura to reach Ouarzazate. In Ouarzazate, we’ll visit the film studios where many famous movies have been shot.
Next, we’ll depart for the renowned Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou – a fortified village that is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This Kasbah has appeared in numerous films, including Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, and TV series like Game of Thrones.
Continuing on, we’ll drive through the Tizi-N-Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains to reach Marrakech. We’ll make stops along the way for lunch and to take photos at interesting points.
Finally, we’ll arrive in Marrakech, where we’ll drop you off at the airport or your accommodation, thus concluding our 5 Days desert Tour from Casablanca.
