Upon arrival in Marrakech, you will be greeted by our representative and then transferred to your hotel or riad.
On the first day of our 7 Days Heritage Tour from Marrakech to Casablanca, you will have a guided sightseeing tour of Marrakech. Your local guide will take you to explore the tourism capital of Morocco the vibrant, red city of Marrakech.
You’ll visit the 12th century Koutoubia Mosque, marvel at the beautiful Bahia Palace, wander through the lush Majorelle Garden, and explore the Old Medina. Your guide will then lead you through the bustling, narrow streets of the souk bazaars, culminating at the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square. This iconic market square in Marrakech’s old quarter is alive with storytellers, magicians, food stalls, and snake charmers.
The next morning of this one week Morocco itinerary, we will depart around 8:00 AM and drive towards the majestic High Atlas Mountains. The winding road takes us on an impressive and picturesque journey through verdant valleys and Berber villages as we ascend to the highest pass in Morocco – Tizi N’Tichka, standing at 2,260 meters in altitude. We’ll stop to capture some photos of the panoramic views and traditional Berber settlements along the way.
Continuing our journey, we’ll visit the famous UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou. This remarkable Kasbah has served as a set location for many international film productions, as it was a significant fortified stronghold on the historic Salt Road trade route, where caravans would transport goods like gold, slaves, ivory, and salt to Moroccan cities.
Then takes us to the city of Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa” due to its numerous film studios. As we travel southeast towards the “thousand kasbahs” region, the landscape transforms through Berber villages and towns, leading us to our overnight stop in the picturesque Dades Valley.
We depart the Dades Valley and continue our 7 Days Heritage Tour from Marrakech towards the road leading to the Todra Gorge along the Dades Valley. This impressive canyon is a favorite among international rock climbers. We’ll take a stroll through the oasis to the great Todra Gorge, where you’ll marvel at the deep, orange limestone crevasse and its stunning vistas.
Continuing our journey south towards the Sahara, you’ll witness a wealth of sights beautiful oases, palm groves, landscapes, ancient ruins and adobe kasbahs, as well as the remnants of dinosaurs. We’ll stop for lunch along the way.
City of fossils will be our route Erfoud. This area was once an ocean, and as a result, it is rich in fossils and minerals, which are carved into beautiful furniture and decorative items.
The end destination for today is the sea of sand dunes of the Erg Chebbi. Here, your camel will be waiting to transport you across the towering, golden dunes of the Moroccan Sahara to your desert camp. You’ll have the opportunity to watch the sunset and try your hand at sandboarding.
As night falls, you’ll be amazed by the breathtaking view of the stars above. Before retiring to your tent, you’ll be served dinner accompanied by local, traditional music, allowing you to enjoying the tranquil desert ambiance. Overnight in the Sahara Desert.
You’ll wake up early to witness and enjoy the stunning sunrise over the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga one of the great highlights of the desert. After breakfast at the camp, you’ll have the choice to return either by camel or 4×4 vehicle, leaving the magnificent dunes behind as we begin the journey to Fes.
Our drive will take us through the breathtaking Ziz Valley, where we’ll stop to admire the panoramic views. Continuing our trip, we’ll pause for a lunch break in either Midelt or Zaida before pressing on towards Azrou or Michlifen.
In this region, we’ll have the opportunity to see the Barbary macaque and explore the cedar forest. Afterward, we’ll make our way to Fes, passing through the town of Ifrane known for its alpine style architecture and nearby ski slopes and forests. The stone statue of a lion in Parc la Prairie is a renowned local landmark.
Today is dedicated to exploring the important sights and monuments of Fes the oldest cultural and spiritual city in the world. Founded in 790 AD by Moulay Idriss II, Fes boasts a wealth of fascinating sites and landmarks that we will discover with the guidance of a local expert.
Key destinations on our itinerary include the Al Qarawiyyin University, believed to be the first established university in the world, as well as the Bou Inania theological college, the historic Jewish Quarter (Mellah), vibrant town squares, traditional Andalusian neighborhoods, and bustling artisan workshops and souks (markets). We’ll also marvel at the impressive Tanneries, a renowned center of Morocco’s leather industry.
For lunch, we’ll dine at a typical Moroccan restaurant located within the old Medina. As the artisan capital of Morocco, Fes offers a treasure trove of craftsmanship, which we’ll have the opportunity to appreciate.
Our full day tour of Fes will culminate with a visit to a viewpoint that provides a wonderful panoramic perspective over the entire Medina. Afterward, we’ll return you to your riad or hotel for an overnight stay in Fes.
After breakfast at your hotel or riad in Fes, our authentic journey will continue towards the Roman Ruins at Volubilis. This open-air museum, while not as grand as the Roman sites along the Mediterranean, provides a relaxed way to visualize an important part of Morocco’s history.
From Volubilis, we’ll continue our drive through the verdant agricultural hills of the high Rif Mountains until we reach the town of Chefchaouen.
Chefchaouen is renowned worldwide, both for its popularity among tourists and Moroccans, especially during the hot summer months, and for its striking blue-washed buildings that give the town a vibrant, enchanting character.
Upon arrival in Chefchaouen, we’ll enjoy an evening stroll to explore the white and blue-hued walls of the medina and the markets, which offer a selection of unique, locally crafted handicrafts. With its photogenic charm, Chefchaouen is a true delight for any photographer.
Rise early today to capture the serene, people free streets of your location before departing for Casablanca after breakfast.
In Casablanca, the highlight of your visit will be the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, a flamboyant building constructed at great expense to commemorate the 60th birthday of the former king. Situated on an outcrop jutting over the ocean, the mosque’s 210-meter tall minaret serves as the city’s prominent landmark.
This impressive structure showcases the very finest Moroccan artisanry, with hand-carved stone and wood, intricate marble flooring and inlay, gilded cedar ceilings, and exquisite zellige (geometric mosaic tilework) adorning the interior.
